Scrapping My Everyday with Memory Mosaic

https://www.mymemoriesblog.com/search/label/Scrapping%20My%20Everyday

Hi, my name is Joy.  I am the designer behind, Memory Mosaic here at My Memories.  Welcome to the 4th post in my Blog Series “Scrapping my Everyday”.  I find that it is fairly easy to make special pages for all those big, special events in our lives, but when it comes to making a page about our everyday life, or the “mundane” it becomes a bit trickier.

This Month our family celebrates several birthdays.  My husband, 1 son-in-law and 3 of my grandchildren all have birthdays in July. Also for all of us in the USA, we had the 4th of July to celebrate.  These events are always fun to scrap. So what about those spontaneous, simple things.

We have 2 of our Grand Children visiting, and one evening we just decided to light a fire in the fire pit in the back yard, and roast hot dogs and make s’mores. It was nothing spectacular, but a fun memory was made.  This first layout was made to highlight this fun evening.
I used my “Woodland Adventures Bundle” and “Woodland Adventures Frame Set” to make the layout.

The last week of June and first week of July, my family spent in Ecuador, (where we have lived the last 30 years, up until 16 months ago when we lost my Mom).  The 2 weeks were emotional and exhausting as we sorted through the pieces that had made up our life.  When you are as sentimental as me, there are precious memories associated with just about everything you own. I knew it was impossible to keep everything, and many of the things we didn’t need, back at our home in the States, as we already had plenty.  I decided to take photos of some of the items and record the special memory associated with each one.  The casserole dish in this second layout is not anything extra special in itself, but it was special to me, because many years ago, when I was back in the US on a furlough, and really in need of such dishes, a favorite Aunt took me shopping at a warehouse store, and bought it for me.  Every time I have used the dish over the years, I have remembered that special time and the love we shared.  For this layout I used a Quick Page made with my Morning Glory collection.

One of the blessings of living in the US for me, is the fact that while we don’t actually live really close to any of our grown children and grandchildren, we are within 1 driving day of each of them. As I mentioned before we have enjoyed having 2 of our 12 grandchildren visiting us for a couple weeks.  One thing they always look forward to when visiting Nana and Papa, is getting Mrs. Miller’s Donuts.  These are seriously the largest donuts I have ever seen.  My 3rd layout, was made to remember eating donuts together.  I used another Quick Page to make this layout. I am hosting 2 challenges on the My Memories Forum.  The first challenge is "Scrapping My Everyday".

I want to challenge you to be inspired to make a layout highlighting some of those everyday things.  If you make a layout and post it in the challenge thread by July 31, I will send you a link for this Paper Pack.

The 2nd challenge, started July 16 and is my monthly “Sketch Challenge”.  Each month I supply you with a sketch for an idea, and challenge you to scrap about a particular theme.  I also put the links for my blog, where you can grab my Monthly Blog Train Freebie along with all the links for the rest of this month’s train.

Hope to see your beautiful layouts in my challenge threads, in the My Memories Forum.
