We all have our "go to style" of scrapping, the style and look we are most drawn to. For me that is vintage colors and floral accents. For my Creative Team, their preferred styles are as diverse as they are AND that is why I love them and delight in being able to learn from them.
It is a good thing to depart from what you are comfortable with from time to time. Stretch your wings, try something new. My Designer Tip for today is about reaching out and departing from your "go to style." Look at galleries of scrapped pages and admire the diversity of styles.
Ways to expand your scrapping horizons might include:
1) Use a kit that is far different in contents than what is normally in your scrapping stash.
2) Create a page that is different from what you usually do. Use lots of elements normally? Limit yourself to 1/3 that amount.
3) Normally use multiple photos in your layouts? Use just 1 or NONE.
4) Emulate/copy a layout you admire but would not normally create. (term: scrap lifting)
Here are some examples of layouts from my Creative Team that reflect their diversity.
From Denise - a fun layout with a single photo and virtually no flowers, (well there are 3); she uses the gnomes and tree and lamppost along with papers and frames in an artistic manner to decorate her page. It is wonderful.
Here is the kit she used for her layout, just released, Exclusive to MyMemories and on sale right now for 50% off.
From Renee - Use of busy papers and lots of busy elements to create a stunning layout for a single nature image. By using a lot of "noise" Renee has actually allowed the viewer's eye to focus on the photograph.
Here is the Bundle Renee used, Forest Sanctuary, on sale in my store through November 15.
From Diane - Here is a layout from the collection: The Storyteller. There is no photo at all. The layout is all about journaling and sharing information about the writer.
