Designer Tip from Diane

December is a wonderful time of year with holiday celebrations and quiet evenings by the fire and a good book.  I am pleased to be able to share a special goodie with you today and I hope your holidays are blessed with the love of family and friends.

I want to share with you how to use papers to create stunning layouts. With holiday photos to scrap and beautiful kits to choose from, this is a wonderful time to scrap. Papers are often overlooked as a design element and relegated to simply a background.  When you cut up your background papers and use them like elements they can make a nice layout standout as amazing!

Here are some examples with the kit preview they came from.

#1 One World from CT Poki - she used squares and rectangles of different papers behind her cluster, which provides more emphasis.

#2 Scarborough Fair from CT Denise - the use of her paper rectangles helps to anchor the photo and cluster and draw the viewer's eye to the image.

#3 Surviving School (a collab I did with Karen Shultz Designs) by CT Deanna - lots of thin strips of papers were used to provide emphasis and color and a sense of fun to her layout.

HERE is a corner frame cluster using One World from CT Poki that uses clipped/cut papers as design elements!

I hope this tip has provided you some inspiration.
Happy Scrapping!
Diane
